The next 20 and 21 November BIAAF organizes in collaboration with the British Council, BIDC and BBK the European workshops: Sustainable Fashion
The sustainable fashion workshops organized by the British Council are a benchmark in Europe that for the first time are organized in Bilbao thanks to the partnership between BIAAF, British Council, BIDC and BBK.

ELISA PALOMINO
Recognized fashion designer, Elisa Palomino is an experienced educator with an extensive history of working across educational institutions including international universities, museums and galleries. Here training has been working in the Fashion Luxury industry for 25 years including Head of the Studio at John Galliano for eight years, Christian Dior H. Couture, Roberto Cavalli, Moschino and Diane von Furstenberg. In 2010, she launched her own label showing for five consecutive seasons at New York, Milan, Rome, Madrid and London fashion weeks.
She has a teaching portfolio in a number of locations around the world such as Polimoda, The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Iceland Academy of the Arts, San Francisco’s Academy of Art University, FIT, Shenkar University, Bunka Gakuen, IED. She’s sat on a range of international committees including International Talent Support (ITS), Mango International Fashion Competition, Remix and Bilbao Arts and Fashion.
Since 2012, she directs the Fashion Print department at Central Saint Martins where she’s developed innovative education projects in collaboration with external professionals, including Kering, Gucci, Loewe, Versace, Balmain, Nike, Museo Cristobal Balenciaga, V&A and British Library. She’s created new funding streams through sponsors: Inditex, Kering, Alcantara, Sophie Hallette and a successful income-generating strand of learning through short courses at arts.com ltd. She’s mentored fashion designers such Richard Quinn, the first recipient of Her Majesty’s British Design Award and H&M design award winner 2016, Stefan Cooke, H&M design award winner 2017 and Wataru Tominaga 2016 Hyères International Festival winner.
She’s pioneered the adoption of sustainable practices into the Fashion Print education curriculum at CSM and she’s developed best practice between craft and digital design. Her research focus is inter-disciplinary, within the context of sustainability, integrating traditional craftsmanship methods with new technologies, keeping in mind the importance of environmental, ethical, and social impact of fashion products.
