Hermes. The Worlds of Leila Menchari
The Grand Palais pays homage to the windows of the french firm
The Grand Palais presents until December 3rd the exhibition “Hermès à Tire d’Aile. The Worlds of Lëila Menchari“, a small exhibition of 8 set designs inspired by renowned window dresser Leïla Menchari and her wonderful windows for Hermés. For 40 years, Mechari created incredible stories for the Windows at number 24, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honeré, the heart of the fashion house. Now, the Grand Palace pays homage to her with some of his creations, where we can enjoy original sculptures or sets inspired by the East and Surrealism.
“When designing a scene, there must always be some mystery, for mystery is the springboard to dreams. Mystery is an invitation to fill in the gaps left by the imagination. This is how Leïla Menchari explains one of the secrets behind the success of her flamboyant window displays. […] With the ‘Hermès à tire-d’aile – Les mondes de Leïla Menchari’ exhibition, I invite you to share this otherworldliness composed of travel, mischief and beauty… Once again, Leïla Menchari is enchanting us”
