XX Guggenheim Bilbao

As the perfect finale to the commemorative events in honour of its XX Anniversary, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao presents a fantastic show aimed at sharing its celebration with the entire population.

Reflections is a free show open to the public organised in collaboration with the Bilbao City Council, the Provincial Council of Biscay and Iberdrola. Designed specifically for the occasion, Reflections is a large-scale projection mapping show created to enable the public to live out a unique sensory experience.

“The randomness of the curves are designed to catch the light”, said Frank Gehry on the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

From October 11 to 14, Frank Gehry’s iconic building will be turned into an impressive artistic intervention by the video design company 59 Productions. The Museum’s titanium sheets, which create an organic effect, and its slimline glass Atrium will serve as a canvas for an audiovisual show featuring original music that over 200,000 people will be able to enjoy, distributed across the 28 sessions scheduled for October 11, 12, 13 and 14.

Each session has an approximate duration of 20 minutes and will retrace two decades of history and creativity in Bilbao. Inspired by this rich history as well as by Gehry’s visionary design and his continual interest in light, texture and movement, the projections will transform his architectural work, giving life to a celebration of light and colour that no resident or visitor to Bilbao should miss.
