LVMH PRIZE 2017
French-Belgian designer Marine Serre wins the prize
The fifth
edition of the LVMH Prize announced last week its winners. Marine Serre, a
French-Belgian designer graduated at La Cambre Mode(s) Belgian Fashion Design
Academy, took home the first prize. Serra was awarded a 300.000 grant and a
year-long mentorship program. The jury highlighted her clever use of urban
style, sportswear and oriental influences. Japanese designer Kozaburo Akasaka won the Special
Prize.
The jury
was formed by leading fashion figures like Karl Lagerfeld (Fendi), Maria Grazia
Chiuri (Dior), J.W. Anderson (Loewe), Nicolas Ghesquière (Louis Vuitton) and Phoebe Philo (Céline), among others. The gala
took place at Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, and singer Rihanna presented
the two trophies. The LVMH Prize launched in 2013, aiming to support young
fashion designers around the globe.
