Uruguay will host the most important fashion event in Latinamerica

International experts will analyze sustainability, technology and innovation in fashion industry

Montevideo will be the Latin capital of sustainable fashion, from 7 to 10 June, during the first edition of MOLA.
Sponsored by UNESCO and IOM, with the support of the Latin American Design Association and the Uruguayan Design Chamber, the event is committed to integration on the principles of sustainability, innovation and technology.

MOLA will be developed in the recently inaugurated Esplendor Montevideo, a Wyndham Grand Hotel.

Their workshops will be leading by specialists from the region and the world, such as the Israeli designer Danit Peleg, precursor of the printing of 3D garments; Paula Gray, considers one of the most influential “eco designers” in Latin America; Patricia Rincón, creator of the platform Slowmotiv that drives fashion as a factor of sustainable change; and the Uruguayan Agustina Comas, settled in Brazil, Latin upcycling referent.

One of the most prominent figures in world activism around ethical fashion, British designer Carry Somers, co-founder of Fashion Revolution will be at MOLA. Alongside her will also be Eduardo Iracheta, member of BIAAF, Bilbao International Art & Fashion.

Catwalks, with new talents, brands and consolidated designers, local and foreign, will be another of the strengths of MOLA: Giusy Bettoni, director of the Milan institute Creative Lifestyle and Sustainable Fashion Synergy (CLASS), representatives of social organizations, academics, students and sustainable fashion associations from Latin America and Europe.

The closing ceremony will take place at the headquarters of another innovative project, Sinergia Design, the first co-work in Latin America with more than 6000 m2 dedicated to design and creation.

MOLA continues to generate alliances, the last ones: ALAD Uruguay, DrapArt Uruguay, FairChanges, Eco Fashion Latam, System B, You Hub Cowork, FIIS; Manelun, from Chile; and the Forum of Ethical Fashion and ONG Done x We, from Argentina.

MOLA is organized by Foundation Entre Soles y Lunas and DOLMEN. Colombian designers Valentina Suárez and Doris Helena Rojas started with this project and today share their vision of MOLA. Nowadays, they work with three entrepreneur women from the host country, Martina Resgusci; from Argentina, Clara Anchorena, and from Cuba, Lea Aneiro.
