PALAIS GALLIERA & BALENCIAGA

The Palais Galliera presents "Balenciaga, L’Oeuvre au Noir" as part of its Spanish season programme.

The exhibition, which takes place at the Museé Bourdelle from the 8th of March to the 16th of July, pays homage to couturier Cristobal Balenciaga focusing on his work of the color black.

With more than a hundred pieces taken from the museum’s collection and Maison Balenciaga’s archives, the display collects all the variations that the celebrated designer made out of this color, from dresses to capes, skirts or mantillas. The exhibition also highlights the link between black and Balenciaga’s roots, his childhood and his influences associated with Spanish folklore.

Divided in three parts, “Silhouette & Volumes”, “Noirs & Lumière” and “Noirs et Couleurs”, the exhibition shows a special connection with art, sharing space with Musée Bourdelle’s sculptures. The Spanish season of Palais Galliera will continue with the exhibitions “Spanish costumes from dark to bright”, at Maison Victor Hugo from the 21st of June to the 24th of September, and “Mariano Fortuny”, which will take place at Palais Galliera from the 4th of October to the 7th of January.
