Christian Dior, couturier du reve

The exhibition celebrates 70 years of the french fashion house

House Dior celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, and the Musée des Arts Decoratifs of Paris is going to celebrate it with a new exhibition that opens its gates the 5th of July. “Christian Dior, couturier du rêve” showcases the history of the emblematic French fashion house from its foundation in 1947 to the present day, exhibiting the work of Monsieur Dior and the designers who succeeded him: Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and Maria Grazia Chiuri.

The exhibition showcases more than 300 looks and accessories, and hundreds of photographs, sketches, illustrations, notes and advertisements. The garments will interact with art pieces, furniture and paintings to illustrate Christian Dior’s passion for art and how it relates to fashion.

The exhibition will begin with Christian Dior’s life from his childhood, to later focus on the themes that influenced his work and the work of his successors. Next, the museum’s central nave displays a chronological walk through the fashion house’s history, and six galleries examine the work of the couturiers that followed Dior as creative director. The visit concludes in a spectacular ballroom that exhibits the best gowns of the label.

Christian Dior, couturier du rêve, 5 July 2017 – 7 January 2018.
