Fashion and Films II: Dressing Ideas in Films
Fashion, trends, films and advertising come together in a marathon of films at the Guggenheim Museum
The
Guggenheim Museum offers, in collaboration with TopArte, the second edition of Fashion
& Films, that will take place next week, on the 8th and 9th of June. It features fashion
videos with an interest in social issues.
On Thursday, the showings
will include the documentary “Versailles’73: American runway revolution”, directed by Deborah Riley
Draper. The film addresses the runway show called “The Battle of Versailles”,
that took place at the Versailles castle in 1973 and confronted French haute
couture designers (Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Hubert de Givenchy,
Pierre Cardin and Emmanuel Ungaro) against American designers (Anne Klein,
Stephen Burrows, Oscar de la Renta y Halston) in an event that gathered some of
the most famous people of the time.
On Friday,
the exhibition is dedicated to fashion films and other formats, with a
selection of 30 short pieces, some of them made for renowned labels like Yves
Saint Lauten, Isabel Marant or Vivienne Westwood.
Tickets are already on sale. More information
