MATE
In our trip through Latin America we have visited different universities, production and art centers. Undoubtedly, one of the most rewarding experiences was to get a closer look at the work of the Peruvian photographer Mario Testino.
Recognized for his work in the world of fashion, Testino has succeeded thanks to MATE consolidate its artistic legacy and create a global platform to promote young Latin American artists.
Visiting MATE becomes a must visit if you are in Lima, an experience where you will enjoy the most provocative sessions of Testino, parties of celebrities…
But what is MATE?
MATE is a non-profit cultural institution created in 2012 by
the Peruvian photographer Mario Testino, seeking to raise the wealth, variety
and quality of contemporary culture in Peru by giving opportunities to Peruvian
artists and sharing exhibitions of international artists.
MATE offers an immersive experience in the world of visual
culture; It is an agent of change that empowers artists, students and the
general public by facilitating the interaction of their own development as well
as that of the creative industries.
In the case of artists, MATE promotes the creative exchange
and expansion of its potential through internships to the “Delfina
Foundation” (financed by the museum and expecting the private company to
adhere to this initiative in a multiplier) and exposing the result of His work
in MATE.
For the students, different educational contents of the
avant-garde have been proposed, related to the temporary exhibitions, which serve
to provide transformative experiences of learning through courses, workshops,
conversations with artists and academics recognized nationally and
internationally, concerts, projections Of video art, among others.
As a platform for the promotion of products of Peruvian and Latin
American design, BODEGA MATE emerges with impeccable curation and its vision is
to train designers and artisans, promoting ancestral practices and techniques
through designs and use of sustainable materials by stylizing their products
and raising them At the highest level of international fashion.
The museum’s efforts will aim to:
