Textile Preservation workshop at the Basque Museum

Registration for the masterclass are now opened

After the success of its first edition call (that will take place on the 29th of November), The Basque Museum
opens registration for the textile conservation workshop conducted by Preventive Conservation expert Soledad Santisteban Villanueva. This masterclass will take place the 13th of December at 19h, as part of the exhibition
Frivolité. Indumentaria del siglo XVIII. Everyone interested in taking part in the workshop should call the number 944155423 to register.

The preoccupation for textile conservation has always existed due to the destruction that use, wrong storage, parasites and fibre deterioration cause in the pieces. Traditionally, textiles were carefully looked after to extend its life, therefore the use and throw culture shouldn’t be common practice. If we retook old traditions and practices and we adequate them to current procedures, we could lengthen the life of our garments. Moreover, there’s plenty of textile pieces that we should conserve so that future generations can learn about their past and make them an active base to build the future.
